Gombe state incumbent governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo secured 285,369 votes, defeating Inuwa Yahya of the APC, who scored 205,132.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo, as the winner of the Saturday April 11, governorship election in the state.
Dankwambo is also the incumbent Governor of Gombe State.
He polled 285,369 votes to defeat his closest competitor, Inuwa Yahya of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 205,132 votes across the 11 local government areas of the state.
The Gombe State returning officer, Saminu Ibrahim, a Professor and Vice Chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, said election in the state was held peacefully throughout the state.
Ibrahim
added that 42 per cent of voters were women, adding that there was no
record of shortage of election materials, while there was also no report
of any death as a result of election.
